Technology’s Effects On Society And The World

Electronics and digital gadgets are widely used in today’s world, especially in industrialized nations. Even developing countries are receiving a helping hand as charities and organizations aim to bring new technologies such as solar energy and wind power to remote villages to help improve their quality of life. It comes as no surprise that electronics and digital gadgets are among the most sought after items in today’s society. With technologies advancing at a rapid rate and all aspects of society, business, and industrial sectors receiving these enhancements with arms wide open, we are being surrounded by these various devices wherever we go.

Although farmer’s markets still exist today, they are heavily shadowed by super markets and other retail grocery stores. Farmer’s markets offered the chance for local businesses and your typical mom n’ pop’s operations to sell their goods to others who lived in their town. With the population increasing at a rapid rate, the small town is reaching the brink of extinction and those who live in the big cities do not encounter many opportunities to shop at such places. Foods sold in grocery stores include packaged boxes of cereals, pasts, and grains, dried goods that are wrapped in plastic bags, and multitudes of packaged, reconstituted, and modified food items. Technology has allowed the production of machines, which has increased the output of goods and has allowed the packaging of foods, and technology has also allowed for the creation of trucks, which help to transport goods across the nation.

The ways in which we communicate with one another have changed dramatically over the past decade. People are no longer restricted to making phone calls at home or in phone booths with the inception of the cell phone. Nowadays, the top of the line cell phones boast features that you would think to find only on a computer. Chat and other messaging capabilities, internet browsing, and applications for entertainment and productivity make cell phones the must-have item for any busy person. Computers have opened the gateway to other worlds, figuratively speaking. They are a great source for communicating with others who live in other parts of the world and an excellent resource for information and for creating new modules.

It is hard to fathom a world in which no technology exists. Without the existence of technology, common items we use everyday would simply cease to exist. Vehicles would not provide a convenient form of travel, and neither would buses and trains. The architecture of our buildings would more or less look similar to the design of earlier huts and dwellings. Although there has been much destruction caused by weapons of technology, one can’t deny the obvious benefits that have resulted from technological research and advancements in all fields.
