Health Care is not Health Insurance

It seems that whenever we hear a discussion of “health care” it is in the context of forty million people without health care and the implication is that “health care” equals “health insurance”. There will be many articles to come discussing health insurance, but first, let’s clarify what health care is because IT IS NOT HEALTH INSURANCE. Try as I might I cannot equate health care with health insurance and I have begun to realize that “health care” really means something different to everyone.

It is human nature to worry about what might happen even though this unknown “thing” may never happen. So whatever health concern or health issue you have about your health and how you deal with it is really “health care” for you. Health Insurance is a BUSINESS and health insurance providers care only how many of the “prepaid” services a policy holder will use. In reality it should be catastrophic coverage for unexpectedly expensive care needs.

Unfortunately, society as a whole has not used health insurance properly and the result is less coverage of health needs with higher health care costs and more profits for insurance companies. FACT: If an individual practices good health habits like eating and exercising properly, this person will eliminate well over fifty percent of all the possible illnesses or diseases one could experience. How are you taking care of your health?

I would like to think that people would desire to live a life style conducive to good health but reality is that it is hard work and too many people are not willing to take personal responsibility for living a healthy life style. These same people are trying their best to get the rest of us to pay for their health care needs by shaping public health care debate to their favor.

Health care to YOU should be dealing with your own health care needs as they are different from everyone else’s. Health insurance is a business and the providers really do not care about your health unless it costs them money, then they will try their best to “un-cover” you so as not to have to pay.

Let me know what you think about this question and the answer.

I will be developing conversations around this issue and would love to hear from YOU if any questions you may have about health care. In my life time, I have seen both “universal” and “free-enterprise” health care systems and am anxious to participate in the debate because I am absolutely convinced embracing “free-enterprise” health care is the only way we can have a viable and affordable health care system.

A debate on health care needs to happen and Fritz Scheffel is leading a movement to fix the health care system. He is the writer and author of “Health Care: It Can Be Fixed” and this is a good short read on the subject at hand. Citizens of this country, and the world, need to know what health care really is and not just what they hope it will be. To facilitate the debate we are launching a campaign utilizing the internet and the vast resources now available. If you agree with us you can participate by helping to finance the effort as we can only go as far as our resources will let us. Our plans are many fold;

1) we will be an advocate for health care programs based on “free-enterprise” principles and totally devoid of ANY government intervention,

2) we will be an advocate for a doctor friendly health care system,

3) we will be an advocate for businesses, both large and small, to be freed from health care responsibilities,

4) we will attempt to establish learning centers for politicians, and future politicians, to learn how to save our tax dollars instead of seeing how many of our tax dollars they can spend,

5) for those weak citizens with their hands held out and expecting government to provide for them, we will work for YOU because we know you will have better care with our approach than any government run program could ever provide, and

6) we will continue to expand our efforts as long as we have the resources and the energy.

Let’s have a healthy debate about health care, not one made up of biased sound bites fed us through biased news media outlets. Instead, let’s exchange ideas to help people around the world understand that health care provided by government IS NOT FREE.

Here is a newsflash for all to hear, a government does not have ANY MONEY with which to provide us with health care, or anything else for that matter, unless they first take the money from us in the form of TAXES, LICENSES, or FEES. A government run health care system is fertile ground for abuse, inferior medical care, rationing, and corruption. TODAY, in this country NINETY PERCENT of our health care resources as used up by only TEN PERCENT of our population. Be careful what you ask for!
