When looking to book cheap hotels, the most important thing is to research, research, research. A typical city break will often cost over 300 pounds per person for the hotel and flights alone. These days many hotel booking agencies are online and are not in a hurry to provide a support phone line. It is important to find a reputable hotel booking agency, especially when booking cheap hotels as the advice that a real person or hotel booking agent can provide over the phone will ensure you can feel more comfortable about a hotel before committing to book it. There are many places and sources that you can use to investigate hotels, either by viewing the hotels own website, use a well trusted hotel booking website that has good information about the hotel, maps, pictures and locations. The internet is such a valuable research resource that there is never any excuse for not finding out about a cheap hotel before you book it for a short break or night away. There are also some excellent review websites such as Tripadvisor that can be used to find out open and honest reviews about hotels. It is important however to be a little wary of these types of websites as one persons taste is not always the same as another’s and it is very rare that people will take the time to place positive information about a hotel as opposed to negative comments.

Speak to friends and look for recommendations when booking cheap hotels, if someone suggests a cheap hotel that is good value that they have stayed in and had an enjoyable stay then ensure you find out which one it was and try it for yourself. Often friends and family will give you invaluable advice about a hotel.

Cheap hotels do not have to equate to a bad hotel so long as the research is carried out to eliminate any of the questions you have before departing on your short break. Don’t forget, when visiting a new place, the last thing you will often want to do is stay in your hotel room, so if you can find a cheap hotel then it ensures more money to spend on eating out, sightseeing and shopping.
