Using Fundraisers For Technology in Middle School

In the world we live in today, our lives our controlled by computers. There are computers in your car, computers in your television, there are in almost every aspect of your life. That is why middle school teachers today have started to integrate computers and other technology into the classrooms. Computers have helped to involve children in educational activities that they actually have fun doing.

Computers are essential in our schools these days. There is no more important time than middle school. If your school does not have a good technology department you should hold a middle school fundraiser to raise money for computers and software.

If you want to equip your middle school students raise the money and get the computers and computer programs they will need to compete in the work place. That doesn’t even mean that you have to raise a lot of money. After all, the prices for low end computers have dropped tremendously. You can even purchase net books now for less than $ 200 each. Those prices are much lowered than in years past and prices will likely continue to drop.

The big program that kids can use is Excel. This will not only help kids to learn, but this is a program that is used all across the world in offices. Many teachers are tired of teaching math as “drill and kill”, they want kids to understand what they are doing instead of just memorizing.

Middle school is a great place for kids to start using computers not just for games. In elementary school they are taught the basics, such as what does the keyboard do, how do you print, etc. When kids enter middle school, the are old enough to understand how to use programs on a computer. Excel is a great place for these kids to start because it is so easy to use. Math teachers use Excel to create graphs, set up charts, and analyze data. This is great for kids because it is proven that kids learn better when they are hands on. Instead of using a textbook, a teacher will first go over what they are going to do on the computers and then ask them to do it.

As the students begin their lessons, the teacher can go around answering questions and giving comments. Another great thing about technology classes is that they can work from home. Teachers who are teaching beginning technology classes use programs that can be found on most any basic computer. This way the students can take a project home and work on it, email to the teacher, print it out, or save it on a disk and bring it to class the next day. With technology as accommodating as it is today, there is no reason that a child cannot finish an assignment.

Middle school technology classes help to teach children through interaction with a computer. Although computer labs are quite expensive, many school districts budget enough money to make sure that there is an adequate amount of computers in each school.
