Technology As A Tool For Progress In Arkansas

At first glance, Arkansas may not be look like the place where high technology and cutting edge science may be found. After all, Arkansas has been known not for its gadgetry and grasp of physics and chemistry but rather of its stature as one of the top agricultural states in the entire United States.

As we all know, Arkansas is the highest producer of rice and is also the top producer of poultry products and soy beans. They are known also for having a diverse and beautiful natural landscape that consists of high mountain ranges and rampaging rivers as well as its man made lakes and numerous caves. The state is known for natural resources and technology is not exactly a natural thing.

However, things are beginning to change in Arkansas as the state is now moving forward to a more technology savvy situation. The trend these days in the United States is using renewal natural energy and the state is not to be left behind. A lot of people in this state are now trying to harness the power of the sun and use it to their advantage. Solar power is the use of the suns’ rays and converting it into power that can be used in the house or in business establishments. The number of people using solar energy in this state is fast growing having seen how economically friendly it is and how it is not harmful to their environment.

Such is a very important factor in this state as the people know that it is important that nature be taken care of and not polluted. In the past, there have been some industries and businesses in the state that has damaged others. The poultry industry is a very large industry in the state but the droppings and the subsequent runoff of the water has introduced some poisonous elements in the water systems and also affected the fishing industry in Arkansas. This is why it is important for them to have viable energy that does not have a negative side effect that would harm other industries and damage nature.

The other industries of Arkansas, simple as they may sound involve specialized equipment in order to make them profitable. Arkansas is the only place where there is diamond mining and that in itself requires technology that can only be found in the state. Moreover, the state has several man-made lakes which involved a lot of planning and technological know how to build.

Another thrust of the local government is the preservation of the environment of the State. While they are still rich of these blessings, Arkansas has experienced some damage as well either because of man-made actions as well as natural disasters. These days, they are concerned about upgrading their early warning systems that would tell them when the possibility of a tornado is high and that people should go to their emergency centers. Technology may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Arkansas but a closer look would reveal that it is a hidden factor to their progress.
