Beware of the Supplement Suppliers

Most governments are concerned about their consumer rights. They try to protect the consumers as much as they can. As consumers it is therefore necessary to alert the government on some areas that still require real consumer protection. Markets like Sports and Nutrition Companies deserve the protection of the government. This is because they provide substandard goods to their clients due to some scrupulous suppliers which they have to deal with. To be particular, supplements suppliers companies should be scrutinized by the governments. This is because they provide misleading information to the consumers.

Many supplement companies through their advertisements claim that the consumer of their products can gain up to 10 lbs. in one week. This they erroneously justify to be scientifically proven. They do this because they know that people normally value scientific findings since most of them are true. Contrary to the belief, for supplement products, statistics shows that it has failed those who have tried it. Most of the body builders who go the supplement way end up dejected and feel conned. It is very sad that the cheating is done by an organization registered by the government to carry a particular trade.

Let’s explain why the supplement companies are cheating the consumers. First of all the supplement companies are buying the products from the major manufacturing companies. These products are then packed and branded by the supplement companies, without adding any quality. The different supplement companies thus name their branded products differently.

By the time they hit the market, the advertisement done are totally different, which is not bad. The problem begins when the supplement companies through their advertisements begin to give the products certain qualities. If these products were made by one company how come that after branding they gain unique characteristics? More so, it is quite misleading for the companies to assign qualitative values to the products which they did not contribute in making. I would have kept quiet if the values were consistent among the various supplement companies, especially with the knowledge that the goods were made by one manufacturer.

But here is a case where they all have their own way of interpretation. This is a clear indication that the aim of these companies is not to provide quality goods to the consumers but to reap a lot of money from the consumers. It is therefore the responsibility of the government to ensure that such an unjust way of making profits stops.

The government should first put these companies to task by demanding to know the authenticity of the experiments which they claim are scientifically proven. This should be in line with the message contained in their advertisements. As much as one may argue that advertisements use seductive language, it is never an avenue to give a false statement to the innocent consumers. For instance, if the cigarette companies could be forced to indicate the truth that, ‘cigarette kills’, then these companies can also be compelled to say nothing but the truth. It is the truth that the consumers are crying for.
