Emphasis on higher education in India are understood by many good universities in India those who are focused on providing quality information to their students.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development is responsible and supervises the entire functioning of all the universities in India through its chief regulatory body that is Universities Grants Commission (UGC). The other government organization that had made their bigger contribution in uplifting the scenario of Indian education is National Assessment and Accreditation council (NAAC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The Universities of India are divided into Central, Deemed, Private and State Universities. There are also other UGC found Young universities, center of excellence and institute of national importance and universities formed under the act of state legislature.

The State University runs by the state that came into existence after the adoption of constitution of India in 1950 when education became responsibility of the state. But after the constitutional changes in 1976 it became a joint venture of state and central government. The best of few state universities in India are-

Andhra Pradesh- Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Acharya N G Ranga Agriculture University, Andhra Pradesh university of Health science and Andhra University.

Himachal Pradesh-Dr Y S Parmar University of horticulture and forestry, Himachal Pradesh University and Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University.

Gujarat-Anand Agriculture University, Bhavnagar University, Dr.Babasaheb University, Gujarat National Law university and Gujarat Ayurveda University etc.

There are world class Central Universities that provide certain important features like-

* The President of India is the “visitor”of all the central universities in India.

* The president can nominate some members of the Executive board of Management/Community/Court/Section Committee of the university in terms of various provisions.

* The Ministry of Human Resource and Development helps the president to appoint the vice chancellors, court committee and selection committee nominees.

The well known central universities are- Hyderabad university, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, The English and foreign Language university, Assam university, University of Gujarat, university of Kerala, Northern East Hill university, Indira Gandhi National Open university, Banaras university, Delhi university etc.

The central government of India along with the recommendation from University Grand Commission (UGC) grants the Deemed university status in educational area only after fulfilling certain criteria that are laid by UGC. The number of Deemed University under section 3of UGC act2008 available in India are- Gandhi Institute of technology and Management, North East regional institute of science and tech and many more
