NPR: Latest technology for the safety on roads

For better safety, the different countries around the world are now using NPR technology. NPR stands for number plate recognition. NPR technology has become very much famous as it is a very good source of security system. The law and other rules and regulations of the country can also be checked and protected with the help of this latest technology. Basically, NPR technology is used by the police bureau of the country. With the help of this technology, the police can trace number of different cars for the purpose of various taxes such as toll tax, road tax, pay per use tax, parking fee, and so on. The main countries using this technology are UK, USA, Italy, Germany and other European countries.

NPR technology was introduced in 1970’s in UK and became famous around the world. The technology is still on research and is evolving. This technology works with the help of IR strobe light, also known as infrared strobe. NPR technology carries out its functions through the close circuit cameras that are equipped with IR strobe light. This helps in recognizing the number plate of any automobile during dark night. The traffic on the roads can be easily managed through this technology. These lights are used for illumination purposes. IR strobe light is also used by the detectives for the negligible effect on that particular investigation which is carried out at night.

NPR technology helps in reading the picture of the car or any other automobile that is why the name of this technology is provided as Number Plate Recognition. The picture of the automobile is read with the help of optical character reader, i.e. OCR technology. When any person breaks the rules of traffic at night, police can easily catch him and penalize him by reading the picture of his car. Stolen cars can also be recovered by the assistance of this technology. IR strobe light scans the car and the picture of the car is taken out and compared with the details of the stolen car such as model of the car, address of the owner, social security details, etc. By this process, stolen cars can be easily traced within a few seconds. This technology is more active and faster than the hand-operated process.

If any person uses a fake number plate on his car, it can also be easily detected with the help of NPR technology.
